	                             TEXTILE CONSERVATORS AND TECHNICIANS

National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution, offers a rare opportunity to work on a project of national historic significance.  The Star-Spangled Banner that flew over Ft. McHenry is being conserved over a 4 year period in a custom lab, on view to the public. The upcoming phase of the project involves cleaning and preparing for exhibition the 30' by 34' textile. Be involved in developing a conservation program for national icon, working with cutting edge research into the long-term preservation of organic artifacts combined with state of the art exhibition techniques. Have the opportunity to educate the public about your profession. 
Successful applicants will have a knowledge of and experience with textile conservation practices, with emphasis on woolen textiles.  Position requires nights and weekends and physical abilities to work while lying down/sitting/standing for extended periods.  Also requires ability to move up to 60 pounds of fabric and equipment, and the ability to climb ladders.  Relocation expenses may be paid.
