temp position announc



Below, I have included a position announcement for a temporary instructor for the 00-01 academic year.  The ideal applicant will have the necessary skills to teach historic costume and social-psych courses.  While this position is only for one year, we will be looking for someone for a tenure track position in the same area the following  year.  If interested, contact Dr. Arbuthnot as listed on the bottom of the announcement and/or respond to this message.

DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN ENVIRONMENTS

APPAREL AND TEXTILES

Position: Temporary Lecturer, Department of Human Environments, College of Family Life, Utah State University (9 month, temporary position).

Qualifications: Earned Master or Doctorate in Apparel and Textiles or related area.  Evidence of successful college teaching experience and liaison experience with the apparel and textiles industry would be desirable.

Responsibilities: Teach courses in Social Psychological aspects of Dress, and History of Textiles and Apparel.  The department is seeking an individual with expertise in the general area of apparel and textiles with an interest in textiles.

Start Date: August 20, 2000

Salary and Terms: Salary and terms are negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.

The Department: The department has 17 faculty members and more the 300 students in bachelor?s,  master?s, and Ph.D. degree programs.   Undergraduate majors include apparel and textiles, family and consumer sciences, family and consumer sciences education, and interior design.  A master of science degree in Human Environments is also available with a specialization in apparel and textiles.

The University: Utah State University is a research and land-grant university with a total enrollment of more than 20,000 students.  The University offers a comprehensive curriculum and has a broad spectrum of programs, people and facilities. USU is located 90 minutes north of Salt Lake City in the scenic Cache Valley with a population of almost 38,000 residents.  It is an attractive place to live and offers a wide range of academic and cultural activities.
