The Johns Hopkins University, Sheridan Libraries is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic person to fill a permanent full-time (37.5 hours per week) professional position as Preservation Coordinator.  This is an exciting opportunity to join a well established preservation program at a world-renowned university.  

 

Under the Leadership of the Director of Preservation, the Preservation Coordinator serves as liaison on behalf of the Director with other library and JHU departments.  The Preservation Coordinator conducts ad hoc research for strategic preservation planning, works collaboratively with subject librarians, technical services staff, and conservation staff to implement collection assessment and treatment priorities.  The position assists in developing and coordinating preservation workshops; managing the department?s intern and volunteer programs; managing vendor relations; developing and coordinating preservation training and awareness programs for staff; developing statistical and survey instruments; and maintaining the disaster preparedness and recovery plan.  The incumbent serves in system-wide committees and projects as appropriate.  

 

The Sheridan Libraries encompass the Milton S. Eisenhower Library and its collections at the John Work Garrett Library, the George Peabody Library, and the Albert D. Hutzler Undergraduate Reading Room. It's primary constituency is the students and faculty in the schools of Arts & Sciences, Engineering, and Professional Studies in Business & Education. A key partner in the academic enterprise, the library is a leader in the innovative application of information technology and has implemented notable diversity and organizational development programs. QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in Library Science or a Masters of Fine Arts.  Minimum two years hands-on experience in a preservation or conservation department with demonstrated knowledge of preservation and conservation issues.  Strong written and oral communication skills, problem solving skills, and proven ability to evaluate priorities and work independently. Demonstrated knowledge of computer software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and Photoshop.     

     

GRADE:  41  REQUISITION #:  24582, SALARY RANGE: $ 42,545-$48,400
