The ALCTS/PARS preconference "Maximizing your Binding Budget" has been postponed and will NOT be held at this year's conference.  

Through the generous support of the Library Binding Institute and the efforts of Charles Wilt, Executive Direcotr of ALCTS the previously out-of-print ALA publication "Guide to the Library Binding Institute Standard for Library Binding" has been reprinted in a limited edition and will be available for FREE to attendees of the Library Binding Discussion Group meeting as long as supplies last. Please join us for another rousing discussion of library binding and the
issues surrounding libraries, users and binders!

We are delighted to host featured guest speaker, Werner Rebsamen, at this
meeting. Considered an authority in the field of book binding, Rebsamen
was born and educated as a master book binder in Switzerland, and
immigrated to the United States in 1960. After a successful industry
career, he joined the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in 1974
where he taught classes and industry seminars on book manufacturing. In
conjunction with the Library Binding Institute (LBI), Rebsamen established
a book testing facility where bindings from all over the world are sent to
be tested and analyzed. His lectures and consulting assignments continue
to take him all over the world. Rebsamen currently serves as Technical
Services Director for LBI and is professor emeritus, at RIT.
