Title: Invitation to ALISE Preservation Education SIG Event

Calling All Preservation Educators!

The Association of Library and Information Science invites members of both ALISE and ALA who have an interest in preservation education to attend a meeting for the newly revitalized ALISE Preservation Education Special Interest Group on Friday, January 14th, 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the Concord Room of the Hyatt Regency Boston (located in the Financial District at 1 Avenue de Lafayette).

This meeting will be devoted to the following activities:

• A report from Ann Russell of the Northeast Document Conservation Center and Michele Cloonan of Simmons College on their IMLS-funded initiative to develop an online curriculum and lesson plans for teaching preservation to MLIS students.
• A report from Michele Cloonan on the joint NEH-funded program of Simmons College and Harvard University to provide training for Iraqi librarians and archivists, to aid in modernizing Iraqi libraries, and help address the country's serious shortage of librarians.
• Planning for future activities of the SIG (including proposals for panels at next year's ALISE and ALA meetings)
