[PADG:1565] Preservation Microfilming Informal Survey




Current Preservation Microfilming Programs and Services: An Informal 
Survey.
 
Please take a few moments to respond.  SEND RESPONSE OFF-LIST by 
Friday, February 8, 2002 to:   <A

Results of the survey will be posted to this list.
 
1. Preservation microfilming program status:
    A. Increased activity within past year.
    B. No change in activity within past year.
    C. Decreased activity within past year.
    D. Preservation microfilming program has been eliminated 
or is currently being considered for elimination.
    E. Other (describe).
 
2. Availability of preservation microfilming services 
(specify if source is in-house or contracted out):
    A. Current (in-house / contracted) source continues to 
provide service.
    B. Current (in-house / contracted) source no longer 
provides service; another source which can provide service at reasonable cost 
has been identified.
    C. Current (in-house / contracted) source no longer 
provides service; no other source which can provide service at reasonable cost 
has been identified.
    D. Other (describe).
 
3. Use of hybrid systems (preservation microfilming 
combined with digitization).  Please specify if using 16mm or 35mm film or 
producing fiche from 105mm film for preservation purposes.
     A. Currently using a system which produces both 
microform and digital versions of material as part of the same process.
     B. Currently using a system 
which generates microforms from digital versions of material.
     C. Currently using a system which generates 
digital versions from microforms.
     D. Not using a hybrid system but looking into the 
possibility.
     E. Not considering use of a hybrid system:
