[PADG:870] Training materials for commercial binding

Call for handouts/training materials to share:

The ALA midwinter meeting of the Library Binding Discussion Group will feature a discussion of staff training for commercial library binding. What materials do you use to train new staff members to select, prepare, and do quality control on items selected for commercial binding? Have you created in-house guides for training? What publications have you found useful? What methods have worked best? What have you found least useful?

Bibliographers are often involved in decision making for commercial binding. Do you have a program in place to educate on the treatment methods available? What success have you had?

If you have handouts or parts of a manual that tackle either topic (and you wouldn't mind sharing) please send them to me and I'll make copies for next week's meeting.

Watch PADG-L for an agenda announcement of the Library Binding Discussion Group meeting to be held Jan. 16 from 2-4 pm in the Guntner Hotel, Magnolia Room.

Thank you.
