You might want to take a look at the prism book cradle made for the Zeutschel OK 301 microfilm camera.  There's a picture and product info. at the Crowley Micrographics website at http://www.crowleymicrographics.com/ok301p.htm.  I didn't notice if the cradle could be used with other imaging equipment, so you'll have to contact the folks at Crowley.

I'd be interested in seeing your information on the Buchanan cradle you mentioned.
