Dear Colleagues,

Mark your calendars!  On Monday, June 29, 9:30-11:30, the ACRL/WESS
program at ALA, cosponsored by ACRL's Arts section, will  address an
important and very timely issue.  "Digitizing a Continent: National-Level
Planning  for European Libraries" will feature 3 speakers:

Kurt DeBelder, Senior Project Manager for Electronic Services, University
of Amsterdam Library, will speak on "Digital Library Developments in the
Netherlands: Centralization, Local Developments, and Competition."

Jack Kessler, Editor, FYI France, will speak on "France: National
Patrimony, 'Foreign' Digits."

Elmar Mittler, Director, Library of the State of Lower Saxony and
Gottingen University, will speak on"Digitizing Germany: A Shared Venture."

Deanna B. Marcum, President of the Council on Library and Information
Resourcw, will serve as respondent.  The program will be chaired by WESS's
Barbara Halporn.
