Dear Vivian
Reference your enquiry about methyl cellulose. I have looked up my
correspondence with ICI dated 1969 when I first got involved with Cellofas.
Amongst that data they mention a product, methofas which is similar, this is
methyl cellulose and not SCMC. Both are similar in use but cellofas was
recommended to me by Mr E G Harding, the paper conservator at the British
Museum in December 1969.
