The Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation of
Historic and Artistic Works (FAIC) has received funding from the
Getty Foundation to offer scholarships to conservation professionals
from Latin America and the Caribbean to participate in the 2017 AIC
Annual Meeting.  Conservation professionals with a minimum of three
years of experience and currently employed in the conservation field
may apply.  Priority will be given to new applicants; previous
scholarship recipients may apply again.  Partial support of meeting
registration, airfare, and hotel, costs will be emphasized; full
support may be available only to those participants demonstrating
extreme financial need.

The 45th Annual Meeting of American Institute for Conservation of
Historic and Artistic Work (AIC) will be held at the Hyatt Regency
Chicago hotel in Chicago May 28 - June 1, 2017.  The theme for the
2017 meeting is "Treatment 2017: Innovation in Conservation and
Collection Care." Papers are solicited that explore various facets
of conservation treatments and collection care programs intended to
prolong the lifetime of cultural property.

The selection will be based on:

    The quality of a proposed presentation (a 20 to 30 minute talk
    or a poster)

    Previous opportunities to attend international meetings

    Number of applicants from each country

    Ability to communicate in English (there will be no simultaneous
    interpretation provided)

    Ability to share information gained from the AIC Annual Meeting

    Availability of financial support from employer or other sources

Applications must be submitted by midnight Eastern Time on September
12, 2016.
