The Dartmouth College Library seeks an innovative, service-focused
professional to join a team of highly collaborative, supportive, and
service-oriented librarians, administrators, and technical staff in
the Jones Media Center.  The selected individual will be responsible
for managing traditional and emerging media collections that support
the teaching and learning priorities of the College and will work in
concert with the Digital Preservation Librarian to explore, adapt,
and implement policies and strategies to support the conservation
and preservation of Library media collections.  Working in an active
public-service location, this position also shares with other JMC
staff the responsibilities for circulation of loaner AV equipment
and media, and training and assistance with equipment and facilities
within the Jones Media Center.

Required:

    MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program, or Post-Baccalaureate
    certification in library science or information technology, or
    the equivalent in education and experience

    Demonstrated knowledge and experience in media preservation
    practices and audiovisual/multimedia hardware and software

    Strong organizational skills and the ability to set and modify
    work priorities independently with a high degree of initiative

    Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, and the
    ability to work effectively in and to lead teams or small groups

    Willing to work some evening and weekend hours, as needed

Preferred:

    Ability to train others in the use of media preservation and
    digitization equipment and practices

    Experience in the following topics: strong computing background;
    format validation and conversion methods; data integrity
    techniques and technologies; long term storage planning; and
    digital asset management systems

Library Classification System of Professional Ranks.  Salary is
