The Lloyd's Register Foundation is the owner of the Lloyd's Register
Group, which has a vibrant history spanning over 250 years,
originally known for the classification and survey of ships.  During
that time, a varied collection of documents have been created and
used by Lloyd's Register.  A small proportion remains and comprises
of: Committee Minutes, ship and engine plans, reports, surveys,
correspondence, certificates, photographs and many other documents.

Although the plans and survey reports collection is partially
indexed and conserved, further work is needed to make it suitable
for digitisation, as well as reboxing archival documents.  The
Heritage and Education Centre seek a highly competent candidate, who
will work as part of Project Undaunted.  This is the Lloyd's
Register Foundation's venture to catalogue, conserve and create
educational resources for the plans and survey reports part of the
collection so that it can be used by academics and members of the
public.  This initial phase of the project aims to catalogue and
digitise 10% of this unique collection.

Purpose of the post is to undertake practical conservation of the
holdings of Lloyd's Register Foundation (plans and survey reports)
involved in Project Undaunted in order to prepare material for
scanning, maintain and improve storage for specified holdings; apply
preservation policies and advise on conservation matters using best
professional practice as directed by the Heritage and Education
Centre.
