Conservator, Time-based Media Conservation Tate Southwark, London Reference: TG1457 Band: 3L Salary: UKP30,000 per annum 12 Months Fixed-term, full-time Reporting to: Conservation Manager, Time-based Media We are seeking a time based media conservator to work within our Time Based Media Conservation team supporting a dynamic programme, of loans, acquisitions and collection care. The successful candidate will work on supporting the acquisition of new works in to the collection as well as managing loans out. This role will require the understanding of individual artworks, their production techniques and technical requirements, as well as of risks for preservation. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of strategies, procedures and workflows for the preservation of the works in the Collection. You will either hold a recognised qualification in Time Based Media Conservation or have equivalent relevant experience. You will need to be able to work independently on the preparation, conservation and installation of time based media artworks. You will also need to communicate effectively and provide specialist advice to a range of stakeholders. It is also desirable to understand the emerging themes and challenges within the discipline of time based media conservation. It is essential to work flexibly across the various programme areas and to have analytical and problem-solving skills, organisational, time-management and planning skills. Good end-user IT skills are required, along with specialist design programmes such as experience of using Vector Works or CAD. This appointment is offered on a fixed-term contract of 12 months.
