Paper Conservator, Acquisitions Conservation Tate Millbank and Bankside, London Full-time, temporary maternity contract Reference: TG1493 Band: 3L Salary: UKP30,000 per annum Reporting to: Conservation Manager, Paper and Photographs Our vision is to act as a champion for art in society. We do this through activities in our four galleries across the UK (Tate Liverpool, Tate St Ives, Tate Britain and Tate Modern), our digital platforms and collaborations with our national and international partners. At the heart of Tate is our collection of art, which includes British art from the 16th century to the present day, and international modern art from 1900 to the present day. We are seeking an experienced paper conservator to work within our Paper Conservation team in support of the Acquisitions programme. Day-to-day, you will concentrate on assessing, documenting and treating works of art within the Collection and on supporting all related programme activity. You will hold a recognised qualification in the Conservation of Works of Art on Paper and have demonstrable practical experience with a broad range of artworks. It is essential to have analytical and problem-solving skills, organisational, time-management and planning skills, and to be an effective communicator. You will need to be able to estimate treatment and framing requirements, work independently on conservation treatments and provide specialist advice for storage, packing, transport and installation of works of art. Good end-user IT skills are required and experience with modern and contemporary works of art and experience working in the museum sector is desirable.
