Paid Pre-Program Internship / Conservation Technician Mountain States Art Conservation Mountain States Art Conservation is a group of established independent conservators in private practice in the Denver, CO area. MSAC is offering a paid pre-program/conservation technician position. The internship is 20-35 hours per week: three days in the textile conservation lab, with additional hours in objects and/or paintings conservation. Internship begins September or October 2016, 6-months or longer. Under the supervision of the conservator, the intern will complete hands-on conservation treatments primarily in textile conservation. Projects can be tailored toward the specific interests of the intern, with an eye toward completing a portfolio in preparation for graduate school applications. Additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to: written and photographic documentation of treatments, general lab maintenance, research. Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree, preferably in chemistry, fine art, art history, or other field related to art conservation Interest in art conservation as a career, with a plan to pursue a graduate degree in a recognized program Previous experience in a professional art conservation laboratory (in any specialty) Basic hand-sewing skills and an interest in textiles.
