St Albans Museums runs several sites including Verulamium Museum.
We are currently carrying out an exciting project to develop a New
Museum and Gallery in St Albans Town Hall, at the heart of the city
centre.  Partnering with UH Galleries, the New Museum and Gallery
will rejuvenate the cultural life of the city, district and wider
region.  It will offer a focus for arts, culture and heritage linked
to the city's unique place in local, regional, national and world
history.

In this new heritage lottery funded role you will develop, manage
and evaluate the care and conservation plan for St Albans Museums
collections.  This includes taking responsibility for implementing
the recommendations of the Building and Collections Conservation
Plan, St Albans Town Hall 2015.

In addition you will manage and carry out preventative and remedial
conservation of collections, providing advice on collections care
associated with the New Museum and Gallery project (collections for
exhibition, activity, outreach and in store).

We are looking for an exceptional candidate with a recognised
conservation qualification to degree level or equivalent experience.
Previous experience of working with social history collections to
provide preventative and remedial conservation and in commissioning
collections care projects is essential to this post.

Sound working knowledge of the Institute of Conservation's
Professional standards and Code of Conduct and of the Arts Council
England Accreditation standards is required for this post.

An excellent communicator, you will have good organisational and
supervisory skills and possess the ability to manage budgets and
resources effectively.  Post is subject to a Basic Disclosure Check.
