Workshop "The Illumination of Museum Collections" National Gallery of Art Washington, DC Thursday, November 10, 2016 The Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation presents the Illumination of Museum Collections workshop, taking place at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC on Thursday, November 10, 2016. This one-day workshop will analyze the key factors that affect the visual experience of museum collections on exhibition. Through lectures and demonstrations, the cognitive science that underlies these factors will be explored. Methods for implementation will also be covered, focusing on how to balance the need to provide a high-quality visual experience while limiting light-induced damage. Technical decisions regarding available technologies such as LEDs, daylight control, and the merging of new and legacy lighting systems will be examined. Registration is now open.
