"The Illumination of Museum Collections"
National Gallery of Art
Washington, DC
Thursday, November 10, 2016

The Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation presents
the Illumination of Museum Collections workshop, taking place at the
National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC on Thursday, November 10,
2016. This one-day workshop will analyze the key factors that
affect the visual experience of museum collections on exhibition.

Through lectures and demonstrations, the cognitive science that
underlies these factors will be explored. Methods for
implementation will also be covered, focusing on how to balance the
need to provide a high-quality visual experience while limiting
light-induced damage. Technical decisions regarding available
technologies such as LEDs, daylight control, and the merging of new
and legacy lighting systems will be examined.

Registration is now open. For more information visit
