Call for Papers 43rd Annual CAC-ACCR Conference and Workshops Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada June 6-10, 2017 Saskatchewan conservators are thrilled to be hosting the 43rd Annual Conference and Workshop of the Canadian Association for Conservation of Cultural Property, June 6-10, 2017 in the province's capital of Regina, located on Treaty Four land. The conference will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton, located in the vibrant heart of the city, with an opportunity to visit cultural centres such as the MacKenzie Art Gallery, the R.C.M.P. Heritage Centre and the Royal Saskatchewan Museum. The conference will be preceded by two workshops: Forensic Photography for Heritage Materials with Global Forensics (June 6-7, 2017), and Photo-etching with University of Regina Professor Robert Truszkowski (June 7, 2017). The theme of the 43rd Annual Conference is Obsolescence. Colleagues are invited to submit abstracts that address the theme, from preserving outmoded technology, to adapting or letting go of outmoded ideas and practices, conservation deals with the archaic on many levels. What's relevant? What's practical? What matters? In addition, papers are requested on all aspects of conservation theory and practice, including all types of collections, public art, the built environment, industrial heritage, archival records, and mount-making. Abstracts are due on October 31, 2016. Please submit an abstract, in French or English, by e-mail attachment (MS Word, double-spaced, 12 point, Arial font) and indicate 'CALL FOR PAPERS - CAC2017' in the subject line to conference<-at->cac-accr<.>ca. Note: Abstracts for 5-minute short talks and posters are also encouraged, and can be submitted by November 15, 2016. Abstracts may have a maximum of 500 words, along with a bio of 300 words maximum per author. In case of multiple authors, please list all authors and include an email address for each author. Please note that speakers are not compensated and must register for the conference (single day registration is available). Abstracts will be published in English and French as part of the conference proceedings. Note: Submission deadlines are earlier than normal to ensure the program can be finalized to match fiscal planning and granting priorities. Questions?
