The Bodleian Libraries are looking for an experienced Book
Conservator to join the Book Conservation Team within the
Conservation and Collection Care Department.

Based in a state of the art workshop in the iconic Weston Library,
you will be working with the unparalleled rare book and manuscript
collections of the Bodleian Libraries, the main research library of
the University of Oxford.

You will produce accurate condition assessments, treatment proposals
and quotations on bound manuscripts and rare books as prioritised by
curatorial staff and the Head of Book Conservation.  As well as
carrying out planned conservation treatments you will also assist
with the preparation and mounting of materials for exhibitions both
on and off the library premises.  You will also be required to
organise the purchase of materials and equipment required and
contribute to the maintenance of the section's materials and
equipment.

You will have a recognised degree in the conservation of books or
equivalent training and experience, as well as detailed knowledge
and experience of historic book structures and book conservation
treatments.  You will have the ability to gather, analyse and
present information clearly and have the ability to communicate with
staff on all levels, as well as produce written reports on
conservation treatments and for journals, newsletters and websites.
Good knowledge of digital photography applied to conservation,
competency with IT and a broad knowledge of the conservation
profession are also essential.

This post is full-time and fixed-term for 2 years.

Salary range UKP27,328 - UKP32,600 p.a.
