The Science Museum is seeking a flexible and enthusiastic
Collections Care Conservator to work in this job share role to
deliver the collections care and conservation activities of
environmental monitoring, Integrated Pest Management (IPM),
condition reporting, accelerated ageing tests.  The post-holder will
work alongside collection and estates colleagues to improve the
environment where possible at the Blythe House object storage
facility.

A recognised conservation qualification, or comparable experience,
will be supported by demonstrable skills in interventive and
preventive museum conservation on a wide range of historic objects
and material types.

You will provide supervision and general Health and Safety support
to our volunteers and conservation interns and students at Blythe
House; object and pest awareness training for colleagues working
with the collection and active participation in delivering objects
and advice for permanent and temporary exhibitions, loans and
acquisitions with collections hazard support as required.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be confident
communicating with a wide range of people.  You will have
demonstrable skills in problem solving and prioritising, which will
be supported by your previous experience within a museum and
cultural heritage environment.

You will be able to demonstrate the ability to plan and execute your
own work programmes, provide statistics, compile summary reports and
promote high collections care standards.  The ability to use
collections databases (e.g. Mimsy XG) and practical expertise in
object handling and risk assessment will be essential.
