Objects Conservator specialising in Metals Victoria and Albert Museum Fixed term, full-time for 5 years Funded by the Gilbert Trust for the Arts The V&A is the world's leading museum of art, design and performance. We enrich people's lives by promoting research, knowledge and enjoyment of the designed world to the widest possible audience. We are seeking an objects conservator with a clear specialism in metals conservation to undertake the preparation of objects from the Museum's Collection, and in particular from the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Collection, for display in galleries, exhibitions, loans and collections care. You will have a recognised qualification in metals conservation and at least two years post-graduation experience. You will undertake all aspects of practical preventive and interventive conservation, predominantly on metals objects, but will also have a practical knowledge of the conservation of other materials including stone, wood, gemstones and enamels to enable you assess and examine objects within the Gilbert Collection. You will be highly self-motivated, have good time-management skills and be able to organise your own workload with the minimum of supervision. You will be able to work independently or as part of a team. You will have good interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate good communication skills, both verbal and written. An ability to express yourself clearly and appropriately to different audiences is important. Applicants invited for interview will be asked to submit an electronic portfolio in advance.
