Subject: Position at Olin Conservation, Inc.
Paintings / Mural Conservator Olin Conservation, Inc. Olin Conservation, Inc. is a private conservation firm, established in the 1960s to treat easel and wall paintings. Our main studio is located in the Washington, DC Metropolitan region. We are considering the shared benefits and mutual opportunity of bringing a Paintings / Murals Conservator on to join our team with two specific, on site projects: These projects involve wall and ceiling murals. Each project entails full treatment of a large design area, painted directly onto non-fabric, architectural supports. Both present interesting and exciting challenges with respect to sample study, stabilization, cleaning and logistical organization. The projects will require security clearance, safety training and work from scaffold. The project terms are scheduled over six months, the first is tentatively scheduled to begin mid-June 2016, the second to terminate at the end of December 2016. There is the possibility of additional terms, on additional projects, after December 2016. We are seeking an experienced candidate with at least ten years, post graduate experience. To advance beyond a mandatory six week review period, the candidate must exhibit dexterity and an awareness of the interaction each process has with the original materials. They must also exhibit thoughtful initiative. To excel with the team, the candidate must be able to assist with and understand the importance of analysis and to meaningfully work with other senior staff as they contribute to the development of consolidation processes and cleaning systems as each are specifically developed based on analysis results and field testing. The applicant must be able to legally work in the U.S. and provide for their own housing in the Washington, DC area. Applicants may send a letter of interest to David L.
