The course will provide the participants with a practical
introduction to Islamic bookbinding.  Participants will observe
different historical bookbinding structures, discuss their features
and will construct a model of Islamic manuscript.  The model will be
decorated according to examples found in an Omanite collection.  The
course (40 hours) is mainly practical and is open to conservators
and students in conservation with knowledge in bookbinding
techniques.  During the course participants will construct one or
more models of Islamic manuscript featuring the decorative apparatus
of manuscripts belonging to an Omanite collection.
