Photographic Collections Conservator The National Library of Scotland Edinburgh Part time (18.5 hours per week) and fixed term for 2 years Salary UKP29,608 (pro rata) The National Library of Scotland has an extensive collection of photographic material, including loose and mounted photographs, photograph albums, slides, negatives, volumes illustrated with photographs and photographic postcards. A recent survey of part of the collection identified the need for a major programme of conservation and re-housing, and the post of a Photographic Collections Conservator has been created in order to tackle this work and to undertake surveys and identify priorities among the remainder of the collection. Funding is also in place for a Photographic Collections Intern, who will be supervised by the Photographic Collections Conservator. Applications are encouraged from conservators with a recognised conservation qualification or an equivalent qualification or experience. Applicants should have at least two years of practical experience since qualifying, and should be confident in identifying and treating different photographic processes and formats. Experience of book conservation is preferred but not essential. Applicants should be accredited or working towards accreditation through Icon's PACR scheme.
