Book and Paper Conservator
The Minton Archive Conservation Project
Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Archive Service, UK

Duration; one year, full time.

Salary; UKP24,472

The Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Archive Service is seeking an
experienced and enthusiastic archive, book and paper conservator to
work on the Minton Archive Conservation Project. The postholder
will carry out work both at Staffordshire Record Office and Stoke on
Trent City Archives.

The Minton Archive was saved for the nation in March 2015 by the Art
Fund and presented to the City of Stoke-on-Trent to be cared for by
the Stoke-on-Trent City Archives, part of the Staffordshire and
Stoke-on-Trent Archive Service. The archive has been described by
ceramic historian Paul Atterbury as "quite simply the greatest 19th
century industrial archive in Britain".

The items selected for conservation treatment are the earliest
pattern books and one box of designs. The collection is already the
subject of enquiries from collectors and historians from around the
world. The box of design drawings contains some three hundred
pieces from renowned artists.

You will have a relevant formal qualification and experience in the
application of Book and Paper Conservation treatments. A methodical
and organised approach will help you maintain concentration and
consistency when working on split sites. A flexible approach will
enable you to work well on your own and as part of an established
team using your initiative and taking responsibility.

Applications must be made on-line at wmjobs:
