Internship in paper conservation
National Archives of Ireland

The National Archives, on behalf of the Valuation Office and in
conjunction with the Heritage Council, is pleased to offer a 12
month internship in paper conservation. The Valuation Office OL 11
Map Conservation Project began in September 2013 and the collection
contains approximately 11,000 Ordnance Survey six-inch survey maps,
from mid-1830s to 1874. These printed maps have been overlaid with
data by the Valuation Office in their work of valuing to create the
original cadastral maps of Ireland. To date 3,194 maps have been
conserved. The intern will gain experience under the supervision of
the Head of Conservation, in a variety of techniques and using
specialised conservation materials and equipment.
