Senior Decorative Arts Conservator Plowden and Smith London, UK Contract type: Permanent Salary: Competitive - negotiable depending on experience Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday Plowden and Smith is an established private conservation company. We are looking to employ a Senior Decorative Arts Conservator. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Decorative Arts Department. They will oversee work by others in the Department--both in the workshop and on site--and work closely with the Client Liaison Manager and the Head of Conservation. The successful candidate will be expected to work on a wide range of objects, including sculpture, ethnographic objects and decorative surfaces, with a strong emphasis on modern materials and contemporary art. An excellent knowledge of materials and their properties is therefore crucial. This position will include preventive care for three-dimensional objects, examination and technical analysis, conservation research, documentation and treatment of objects. The successful candidate must demonstrate proficiency and commitment to high quality and appropriate conservation treatments in accordance with ICON guidelines. He/she will also assist with the maintenance of departmental records through accurate written and photographic documentation The candidate must be flexible in approach with a known track record of working to tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of work. They must be able to work in a team as well as being self-motivated.
