Subject: Call for volunteers--Baltimore Museum of Industry
Volunteers needed in the Baltimore area. The BMI Archives has over 10,000 ship plans from Bethlehem Steel Corporation and various other 20th century shipbuilding companies. Volunteers are needed to help process ship plans and related material in hopes of making the collection accessible to research and other interests. Project scope includes unpacking, flattening, arranging, sorting, inserting in new folders, labeling, and shelving or placing in flat files the material. The plans will be arranged both by ship and chronologically, so opportunities exist for inventorying, data entry, research, and writing a formal finding aid. Volunteers will work primarily at the BMI's off-site warehouse. Here are the instructions for completing a volunteer application. Go to <URL:http://www.thebmi.org/> Hover mouse over the "Exhibitions in Collections" menu along the top of the webpage When the drop down menu appears, click "Internships and Volunteering" Click on "Learn more about volunteer positions" This will take you to a PDF explaining the volunteer positions (generic descriptions); the application is at the bottom of the PDF. Once you've filled in and completed the PDF, email it to Jane <jwoltereck<-at->thebmi<.>org> Robin Siegel National Geographic Society, retired Conservator *** Conservation DistList Instance 29:44 Distributed: Friday, April 8, 2016 Message Id: cdl-29-44-030 ***Received on Thursday, 31 March, 2016
