Classification of conservation and preservation activities

The Preservation Unit at the San Francisco Public Library does a
mixture of book repair, conservation and preservation.  All of these
activities are currently classified as Book Repair; this is not
ideal for obvious reasons.  We, the unit staff, would like to hear
how other institutions, especially public libraries, have organized
their preservation/conservation units to include these very
different activities.
