Preventive Conservation Specialist
Collections Curatorial and Conservation Branch.
Parks Canada, Heritage Conservation and Commemoration Directorate,
Location of tenure Ottawa, Ontario.

Permanent, full-time

Closing date April 13, 2016.

The incumbent will be part of a team of professionals responsible
for the analysis of Parks Canada moveable cultural resources for
their better understanding, long-term preservation and maximum
enjoyment of visitors.  The incumbent will report to the Manager of
Conservation Science and Preventive Conservation and will contribute
to the leadership and vision for the implementation of new and
sustainable approaches in preventive conservation in response to the
needs of Parks Canada's cultural resource management.  Strong
communication skills will be required to improve overall awareness
across the organisation and for the acceptance of new approaches for
the care of movable cultural resources.  The incumbent will work
closely with field unit/site staff to address challenges and with
scientific, conservation, collections and curatorial colleagues to
design and apply consistent approaches in preventive conservation.
The incumbent will support staff and supervise all measures
implemented towards preventive conservation to ensure professional
standards and success of outcomes.
