The Graduate School of Cultural Heritage Conservation, National

a research oriented technical university in Yunlin County, Taiwan
and has been ranked among the top ten most competitive universities
nationwide. The university, also known as YunTech was founded in
1991 and has approximately 10,000 students. Currently, the Graduate
School of Cultural Heritage Conservation has a broad teaching base
where students are able to focus on one of the following
specialisms: Buildings and Cultural Landscapes; Revitalization and
Management of Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage; and Objects
Conservation or Paper/Asian Paintings Conservation. The School
offers both BA and MA degrees.

In addition to lecture theatres the Graduate School of Cultural
Heritage Conservation has a large and well equipped studio for
paper, textile and paintings conservation; a fully equipped objects
conservation laboratory; and an analytical section which houses
SEM/EDX; FTIR; XRD; FTIR; Micro-Raman Spectrometry; Raman/LIBS

microscope.

The teaching program will shortly be expanded to include a two-year
Master of Arts in Conservation taught in English. As a consequence,

new teacher with specialisms in either Easel Paintings or Polychrome
Sculpture. The successful candidate must have qualified from a
recognized conservation program in at least one of these
specialisms, have demonstrable practical experience, plus a PhD in a
related subject. A good command of English is a requirement since
all teaching will be in English. The position is suitable for a
conservator who has recently completed their PhD and is eager to
establish themselves in an academic career. The department
currently has two European teachers on the faculty and, therefore,
the appointed conservator can expect substantial support in terms of
language and administrative issues. Appointment will initially be
on one-year renewable contracts. Subsidized accommodation on campus
is also available and there is the possibility for assistance with
travel to Taiwan for the successful candidate. Salary will depend
upon qualifications and extent of experience.

Prospective candidates should send a curriculum vitae, a description
of research interests and achievements, together with an
accompanying letter outlining what skills and experience they can
contribute to the School's teaching, to the address given below.
Deadline for applications is 15 May 2016. Preference will be given
to candidates who can demonstrate practical conservation experience
in the form of a portfolio of completed works which can be submitted
in digital form, together with the candidate's application.
Applications can be submitted by email (gordontw<-at->yuntech<.>edu<.>tw).
