Subject: Books with blocked pages
Does anyone have experience or could make suggestions on separating the pages in a book that has "blocked" together into two sections? The book is a Qu'ran in an Arabic binding thought to be from the 18th or 19th century. The pages are heavily sized paper, most probably a starch sizing, with black hand written text and some small amounts of red media within a decorative gold border. The blocking is a result of water damage occurring over 100 years ago, and there is a fair amount of mould growth. The book has been frozen and vacuumed, as per the extent of mould remediation that can be currently carried out. The black ink is not water soluble. There has been some transfer of the red media between facing pages.
