Subject: Yale Preservation Lecture
The seventh in a series of preservation lectures is planned for 3:30 pm on May 5, 2016 at the new Yale University Library Center for Preservation and Conservation, 344 Winchester Ave, New Haven, CT. The lecture is sponsored through a gift of Jack '47 and Betsy O'Neill. This year's lecture is a panel of four conservators discussing: Before and After: Experiences from Newly Built and Renovated Conservation Laboratories. The discussion will include what is taken into consideration when designing a conservation laboratory: Besides the materials that are to be treated in the lab, how does geographic locations/external adjacencies affect the work? And how does the space help or hinder outreach and working relationships with colleagues across the Library? Answers to these and other related issues may be of interest to collection managers and curators. It is also an opportunity to talk with conservators from other institutions.
