This posting is recruiting for 5 Time-Limited positions:  65023190,
65023191, 65023193, 65023194, 65023195.  This is a 2-year
time-limited project.

Recruitment Salary: $35,474

Positions are responsible to the QAR Lab Director/Chief Conservator
and will work cooperatively with others in the QAR Project team.
Post holders will undertake all aspects of work for the
documentation, investigation and conservation, of archaeological
artifacts recovered from state archaeological shipwreck site
31CR314, Queen Anne's Revenge (QAR).  This can involve participation
in recovery of artifacts and treatment through to their transfer to
museum.

The posts are based at the NCDCR QAR Lab, East Carolina University,
West Research Campus, about 10 miles west of downtown Greenville.
Other duties will include, but not be limited to, public education
and outreach, training and supervision of students, and laboratory
maintenance and administration.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

    Experience and education in archaeological artifact
    conservation, documentation and recording (including photography
    and illustration) required, preferably of material recovered
    from underwater marine environments, and especially of concreted
    artifacts, cannon, and large waterlogged wood/hull components

    Familiarity with laboratory practice and protocols, vigilance in
    complying with safe and proper handling of equipment and
    materials is essential

    Ability to lift heavy objects using mechanical devices and use
    of industrial shop equipment, including x-radiography
    recommended

    Proficiency with personal computer applications essential

    Ability to work as part of a team is absolutely essential
    Minimum

Education and Experience Requirements

    Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely
    related field; or graduation from a four-year college or
    university with a major in archaeology, anthropology, or a
    related field and two years of progressive experience in
    archaeology, or archaeological preservation; or an equivalent
    combination of training and experience.
