"Safeguarding Islamic Books and Manuscripts: An Introduction to
    Cultural Heritage and Property Law"

The Islamic Manuscript Association, in partnership with Qatar
National Library and the Thesaurus Islamicus Foundation, is pleased
to announce an intensive three-day course entitled Safeguarding
Islamic Books and Manuscripts: An Introduction to Cultural Heritage
and Property Law, to be held at Qatar National Library from 3-5
April 2016.  This short course will survey legal issues related to
the safeguarding of written and documentary heritage and the daily
care and management of collections of Islamic books and manuscripts.
It will explore the legal protections that should be offered to
objects at risk from conflict within and between countries and
explain the fundamental and sometimes complex legal and juridical
questions affecting the acquisition and deacquisition, digitization,
reproduction, and publication of books, manuscripts, and archival
documents.

The cost of the course is 215 GBP for Association members and 240
GBP for non-members.  Two scholarships are available for Arab
researchers and heritage professionals living in the Arab World.
