Call for Papers Facture Volume IV: Series, Multiples and Replicas The National Gallery of Art Conservation Division invites abstracts of essays to be considered for publication in its biennial journal Facture. The fourth issue to be published in the late spring of 2019 will be devoted to artists' series, multiples, and replicas. Facture presents technical research by conservators, scientists, and art historians related to the National Gallery collections. Essays addressing works that include one or more examples from the Gallery will be considered as well as papers focused exclusively on the Gallery's holdings. Authorship is not limited to National Gallery staff, and collaborative, multidisciplinary contributions are encouraged. Contributions may take the form of a feature essay (not to exceed 8,000 words) or a shorter notice (not to exceed 4,000 words). Topics may range from conservation treatment and scientific investigation to technical art history and may address works of art in all media. Essays should be written in a manner equally accessible to conservators, scientists, and art historians. Submissions will be evaluated by an Editorial Committee composed of conservators, conservation scientists, art historians, and educators on staff at the National Gallery of Art. Abstracts of 300 words or fewer should include the title, the authors' names, a brief description, and a statement of the current state of research and work necessary for the completion of the essay. For multi-authored contributions, please identify one author who will serve as project coordinator. The text must be double spaced and submitted as a Microsoft Word document. Abstracts should be sent to: facture<-at->nga<.>gov no later than April 8, 2016. Contributors will be notified no later than May 6, 2016. Questions may be directed to d-barbour<-at->nga<.>gov *** Conservation DistList Instance 29:40 Distributed: Sunday, March 6, 2016 Message Id: cdl-29-40-006 ***Received on Friday, 26 February, 2016
