Pip Laurenson appointed Professor in Art, Collection and Care at Maastricht University

Pip Laurenson, Tate's Head of Collection Care Research, has been
seconded from Tate for one day a week to take up a part-time
appointment as an extraordinary professor for Maastricht
University's Centre for Arts and Culture, Conservation and Heritage
(MACCH).  She will be based within the Faculty of Arts and Social
Sciences (FASoS) and her research will concentrate on the networks
which underpin the making of contemporary artworks, changing
artistic practice and its impact on conservation and the museum.

This professorship builds on an existing collaborative research
relationship between Tate and Maastricht University including Tate's
partnership in the Marie Curie Doctoral Training Centre, New
Approaches to the Conservation of Contemporary Art led by Maastricht
University.

Pip will give her inaugural lecture in Maastricht on Friday 18 March
2016, 16:00.  The title is: "Practice as Research: Unfolding the
Objects of Contemporary Art Conservation".  The inaugural lecture
takes place during the MACCH annual conference which will take place
on 18-19 March 2016.
