Workshop "East Meets West: Traditional Japanese basic techniques and materials for paper conservation" Bayerische Staatsbibliothek Munich Germany Monday 29 August - Friday, 2 September 2016 Instructor: Mr. Keisuke Sugiyama Language: English "East Meets West" offers a five-day training workshop by the paper conservator Keisuke Sugiyama (Japan), who worked for eight years as a senior conservator of Japanese painting in the Hirayama studio, in the Department of Conservation and Scientific Research at the British Museum in London. Workshop participants will learn about traditional Japanese materials, glues and tools. In addition, training in lining techniques using a Karibari will be offered, including both practical application as well as the theoretical knowledge underlying this technique.
