Subject: Position at Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art
Internship Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art has a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to support a graduate level conservation student to assist in surveying approximately 300 objects and textiles, part of a recent gift from Bud Adams, former owner of the Tennessee Titans, member of the Cherokee Nation, and avid collector of Native American materials. During the project, the student will survey objects, elaborate on some object and technology descriptions, elaborate on some condition descriptions, elaborate on some treatment proposals, and create some storage mounts. This is a great opportunity to examine a broad range of Native American materials and collaborate with a profession museum staff. This placement would be appropriate for a second- or first-year student, and can be tailored somewhat based upon the student's strengths and interests. A contract conservator (Professional Associate, AIC) will be on site one day a week to advise and assist with the survey. The internship will run for 8-10 weeks, dates negotiable, and includes a stipend.
