Conference attendees will be exposed to the latest materials research, presented by international and domestic experts. The Art and Cultural Heritage: Discoveries and Education symposium will highlight both the latest discoveries in the scientific study of cultural heritage, and showcase novel strategies that employ cultural heritage for education in engineering and science. This two day symposium will feature the newest findings surrounding the technology, engineering and materials associated with art, archaeology and cultural heritage, including pigments, ceramics, glass, and metals. Equally, submissions that explore innovative approaches to training and learning at the intersection of engineering, science, technology and cultural heritage are most welcome. All submissions that pertain to the scientific study of cultural heritage, or advance its understanding and preservation, will be considered. Student support is available, and bursary decisions will be made in the late summer of 2016. This symposium is sponsored by the Art, Archaeology and Conservation Science Division of the American Ceramic Society, and it is organized by Dr. Darryl Butt, Distinguished Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Boise State University and Glenn Gates, Conservation Scientist, Walters Art Museum.
