Digitisation Conservator National Library of Scotland Edinburgh Part time (22.5 hours per week) and fixed term for 2 years Salary UKP29,608 pro rata The digitisation of the collections is one of the National Library of Scotland's key strategic objectives, and is a growing area of activity. In order to ensure that collection items are not damaged during digitisation, the need for a new Digitisation Conservator post has been identified. This conservator will be the link between the Conservation Unit and the Library staff and external contractors who are undertaking digitisation of the physical collections. The post will support digitisation work by advising on the physical impact of digitising collections and undertaking conservation treatments to prepare items for digitisation. Applications are encouraged from conservators with a recognised conservation qualification or an equivalent qualification or experience. Applicants should have at least two years of practical experience since qualifying, including experience of treating books and flat paper items and preparing library collections for digitisation. They should be accredited or working towards accreditation through Icon's PACR scheme. The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 14 February, 2016.
