Digitisation Conservator
National Library of Scotland
Edinburgh

Part time (22.5 hours per week) and fixed term for 2 years

Salary UKP29,608 pro rata

The digitisation of the collections is one of the National Library
of Scotland's key strategic objectives, and is a growing area of
activity. In order to ensure that collection items are not damaged
during digitisation, the need for a new Digitisation Conservator
post has been identified. This conservator will be the link between
the Conservation Unit and the Library staff and external contractors
who are undertaking digitisation of the physical collections. The
post will support digitisation work by advising on the physical
impact of digitising collections and undertaking conservation
treatments to prepare items for digitisation.

Applications are encouraged from conservators with a recognised
conservation qualification or an equivalent qualification or
experience. Applicants should have at least two years of practical
experience since qualifying, including experience of treating books
and flat paper items and preparing library collections for
digitisation. They should be accredited or working towards
accreditation through Icon's PACR scheme.

The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 14 February,
2016.

Please visit the Library's website for more information and to apply
via our recruitment site:
