Restoration of Polychrome Wooden Altarpiece in Spain

Pilgrim Art Restoration is a new initiative created by experienced
conservators with a passion for teaching who saw an opportunity to
share our knowledge of conservation with a wide audience across the
world. Our team has more than 20 years of experience specializing
in conservation. We offer students the opportunity to work with
real art works in monasteries and convents across Spain. Our
program offers students hands on conservation experience,
accommodation at historic monasteries, the opportunity to experience
a new culture and make use of their skills and training in the real
world. Pilgrim Art Restoration will work alongside Declausura
Foundation and Familia Humanitate Foundation. The mission of these
Foundations is to work for Monasteries and Convents around Spain
providing support for maintenance and heritage conservation.

Alejandro Lopez Moreno is the founder of the program and has worked
in restoration companies like Agora, Petra, Alfagia, Sabbia, EMR,
Magaz and also in the Museo del Prado. During his extensive
conservation work in monasteries across Spain it became apparent
that there was a real opportunity for a mutually beneficial
relationship between the monasteries, conservators and students.
Monasteries have accommodation for visitors and are in need of
investment to pay for much need conservation projects. Conservators
and students are interested in working on the priceless and unique
art contained within the monasteries.

Pilgrim Art Restoration is currently looking for suitable candidates
to participate in this practical training internship. Pilgrim Art
Restoration specializes in polychrome wooden altarpieces. They
offer a 12-20 week international practical training internship in
the conservation and restoration of painting and sculpture for
emerging professionals from a range of backgrounds. Tasks include:
removal of repainting, mechanical and chemical cleaning, lining,
molding, gilding with gold leaf, color retouching, and consolidation
and structural wood reintegration into the main structure of the
altarpiece.

The monthly fee of $1,500 USD includes full tuition for the
international practical training internship, tools and materials for
fieldwork, and accommodation in the monastery and food. The course
fee does not include the application fee, flights to and from Spain,
travel to the Monastery, or mandatory health insurance.

Applicants should be students or a graduate of a recognized
conservation training program or have equivalent training.
Demonstrated practical skills are required. Applications, including
a cover letter, CV, and contact details of two references, should be
addressed to: info<-at->pilgrimartrestoration<.>com.
