Permanent full time 37.5 hours per week

There's no other organisation like the National Trust, Europe's
largest conservation body. Our Consultancy is home to specialists
in every field of our work, from curators to building surveyors and
archaeologists, to professionals in volunteering and community
involvement, and all aspects of marketing and supporter development.

Joining us as a Conservator in Cornwall, in the South West region,
you'll use your technical and consultancy skills to offer support
and expertise in all aspects of preventive and remedial
conservation. You will enable the conservation of collections and
historic house interiors of the highest quality, ranging through the
Georgian (Saltram) high Victorian (Lanhydrock) periods to the
twentieth century (Coleton Fishacre and Greenway) taking in
industrial archaeology on the way. As an accredited professional,
or able to demonstrate you are working at this level, you will make
sure our staff and volunteers have the best possible guidance to
uphold excellent conservation practice. By providing specialist
skills and knowledge, promoting our preventive and remedial
conservation work, or facilitating sustainable standards of
conservation, access and presentation, you'll be playing a vital
part in preserving the nation's heritage. By focusing on the big
picture, by sharing ideas, insight and expertise, you'll help us to
achieve our bold ambition of balancing conservation requirements
with visitor access needs.

About you: You're an enthusiastic, knowledgeable conservator with
experience of preventive and remedial conservation of collections,
interiors and statuary. Someone who shares our aims and ambitions
and understands the balance of conservation and visitor access.
Someone who'll challenge conventional thinking and be proactive in
championing bold ideas. More than anything, you'll be passionate
about making our properties, places and collections ever more
relevant and engaging for our diverse audience. You'll need to be
professionally qualified and accredited, with an in-depth
understanding of the latest preventive and remedial conservation
tools and techniques, and be confident in advising and working
through property staff and volunteers. We'd also like you to have
practical experience of providing an effective consultancy service
and you'll feel confident interpreting data and using your findings
to help influence colleagues.

Incredibly rewarding We expect a lot, but we'll offer a great deal
in return, starting with stimulating and challenging work and the
opportunity to help us achieve our bold ambitions. You can also
look forward to free admission to all our incredible places, plus a
helpful 20% off at our shops, cafes and restaurants. But they're
just the benefits we can tell you about here. There are lots more

We're a charity founded in 1895 by three people who saw the
importance of our nation's heritage and open spaces and wanted to
preserve them for everyone to enjoy. Over 100 years later these
values are still at the heart of everything we do. We want people
of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy, be inspired by and love the
places we look after as much as we do.
