This is probably because the manufacturer has included less
preservative in the formula--perhaps not such a bad thing.  I have
found that misting a bit of alcohol into the container and onto the
inside of the lid before closing will postpone, if not inhibit
entirely, the growth of mold on similar emulsion-based products.
