Archive conservation work placements (2 positions)
Continuity of Care Project
University of Stirling Archives

10 weeks full time with a stipend of UKP3,000

Continuity of Care is a project funded by the Wellcome Trust which
will conserve and catalogue the archives of the Royal Scottish
National Hospital (a collection added to the UNESCO UK Memory of the
World Register in 2013).

Two archive conservation work placements are available as part of
the project. The posts will provide hands-on experience conserving
a collection of archives of national importance. Under the guidance
of our Project Conservator the trainees will carry out a programme
of cleaning, repair and repackaging of hospital applications and
case notes. They will also assist in the conservation and care of
other items in the collection.

The posts are ideally suited to those who are planning to apply to
or have recently completed a qualification in conservation or
archives administration and who are looking for practical work and
an opportunity to experience conservation in the context of an
archive setting. Training will be provided but good manual
dexterity and interest in archive material is essential. The posts
will run from Wednesday 7 January - Tuesday 17 March, 2015.

Please send a CV and supporting statement detailing why you are
interested in the post and how it would benefit your future career
