Archive conservation work placements (2 positions) Continuity of Care Project University of Stirling Archives Scotland 10 weeks full time with a stipend of UKP3,000 Continuity of Care is a project funded by the Wellcome Trust which will conserve and catalogue the archives of the Royal Scottish National Hospital (a collection added to the UNESCO UK Memory of the World Register in 2013). Two archive conservation work placements are available as part of the project. The posts will provide hands-on experience conserving a collection of archives of national importance. Under the guidance of our Project Conservator the trainees will carry out a programme of cleaning, repair and repackaging of hospital applications and case notes. They will also assist in the conservation and care of other items in the collection. The posts are ideally suited to those who are planning to apply to or have recently completed a qualification in conservation or archives administration and who are looking for practical work and an opportunity to experience conservation in the context of an archive setting. Training will be provided but good manual dexterity and interest in archive material is essential. The posts will run from Wednesday 7 January - Tuesday 17 March, 2015.
