2nd National Meeting of Metals and Composite Objects Conservation :National Maritime Museum Gdansk, Poland 23 October 2014 Organised by National Maritime Museum in Gdansk and the National Contact of the ICOM-CC Metals Working Group The meeting will focus on the following themes: Archaeological and historical metal conservation (from both terrestrial and marine contexts) Assessment methodologies such as the application of scientific techniques to further understanding of metal objects or assist in their conservation Conservation of outdoor sculpture and architectural metalwork In situ conservation of large or complex objects Composite objects Conservation of architectural and military objects New analytical methods in conservation, and new technologies in conservation including engineering and 3D Technology Progress in conservation treatments such as stabilization techniques, cleaning, corrosion inhibitors, preventative conservation, risk management analysis New approaches in metal protection Organised for the first time in 2013, the Meeting of Metals and Composite Objects Conservation enabled conservators, researchers, students and other professionals to familiarise with each other's work; it was also a great opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience. According to last year tradition, seminar is planned for one day, during which participants will have an opportunity to listen to several presentations and take part in discussion panel.
