Subject: INCCA - Asia Pacific
A new regional group of the International Network for the Conservation of Contemporary Art (INCCA) has recently been launched. INCCA - Asia Pacific was officially launched on 14 September 2014 in Melbourne, with the aim of bringing together conservators and art practitioners involved in the care of contemporary art within this culturally diverse region. The group aims to become a regionally relevant network to communicate specific regional issues and challenges of contemporary art conservation. Issues include those of climate, culture, availability of materials for creative and conservation practice, documentation, fusion creation, traditional and contemporary art practices, conservation awareness, and education and training opportunities amongst others. We aim to encourage the sharing of knowledge and skills between professionals within the region as means of mutual assistance and support, as well as to promote awareness, build relationships and explore similarities in the roles and working practices of art professionals in the Asia Pacific region. We welcome input from individuals from around the region and beyond to take part in discussions about the care of contemporary art.
