List of solvents and solvent combinations

I would like to know if anyone is compiling a list of solvents and
solvent combinations for varnish removal, and agents for surface
cleaning that have been used in the past.  Is anyone doing this,
possibly as part of a project for the history of
conservation-restoration treatments?
