Washington Conservation Guild meeting "Outsmarting Light: SmartGlass Technology in Exhibitions: National Postal Museum Smithsonian Institution 2 Massachusetts Ave. NE Washington, DC 20002 Thursday November 6, 2014 Linda Edquist, Conservator and Head of the Preservation Office at the National Postal Museum will present a talk about how she prepared some of the most sensitive objects the museum has ever exhibited: letters and covers that were the vehicles for the 2001 anthrax attacks. These objects are part of the new 2014 exhibition, "Behind the Badge: The U.S. Postal Inspection Service". The galleries are using SmartGlass technology for the first time to display these objects. Dr. Seth Van Vorhees of VariGuard will discuss the technology of SmartGlass and its applications. VariGuard is generously sponsoring the reception.
